A difficult time that resulted in an unlikely friendship ...
A friend who I met through the alcohol support groups, very different backgrounds and lives but there is some kind of unity there. A strong bond of what we have both gone through.
In my teenage years I fancied a young lady who already had a boyfriend. I had an instant dislike for this guy but after one night when I got talking to him we went on to become great friends for several years. We both forgot about the girl!
When homeless - when I had to leave my own home for my own safety - colleagues from work offered me safe harbour during the week - a month spent with each in their homes. (At weekends I went to my ‘second home’ which was a two hour drive away) One of those colleagues and her husband became very close friends - we have supported each other in many ways over the 18 years since, including over the increasing geographical distances. A treasured friendship. GRATITUDE AND LOVE.
