My father is really good at voicing his opinion about a particular aspect of my life that always brings me to tears. I confronted him one time and he admitted he should pay attention to my feelings.

Once my friend who I had been friends with since preschool told me something to my face and then told my other friends something else behind my back, I found this very hurtful.

When my ‘favourite cousin’ moved to Texas, I initially found our get togethers to be fund, loving and light-hearted.  I had always known her to be the kind of woman to take in and love on anyone. The nurturing type. When she first offered to teach me to sew I was thrilled. I couldn’t wait to spend time getting to know her. What should have brought us closer together, ended up bringing out the ugliest side of her. Her ‘Christian beliefs’ that were once seen as loving, were actually coning out as judgemental and inconsiderate. Until my sister came out to me and told me her story I was never offended by her views, but now they are incredibly hurtful. Not to mention she is so strong in her beliefs, there is no convincing her that those who are different are not wrong. “Thou shalt not judge” is something that is being missed. The half-finished bonnet is still in a bag in my car. The baby I was making it for is now 18 months.
