Patchwork Stories is a social enterprise founded in October 2016. However our story really starts in December 2012, when Fiona Macbeth had an idea.
Picture a group of people sitting together working with their hands, threading and sewing; as they do they tell stories about their lives, small moments as well as big experiences. These people are making connections both through the stories they tell and the material they are collectively sewing together, piece by piece. As they tell their stories the invisible threads form; a woman tells a story of a time when she chose safety over happiness, and as she does it occurs to a young man listening that that’s what he’s currently doing; choosing safety over happiness. In that moment he finds an answer to his confusion about whether to leave his job or not.

Stories of people’s struggles and triumphs, joys and anguish, heartbreak and love, provide us with an invitation to see our own struggles and triumphs anew. Our lives may be very different from those we hear about, but as we listen, the landscape of our own lives shifts a little; the beam from the stories picking out areas we haven’t paid attention to for a while, or revealing a shadow we haven’t noticed.

Unless otherwise stated, all photos/words are the property of Patchwork Stories.
